About

Art making has been an important means of expression for me since childhood. The color, rhythm and texture of brush strokes and scratchings, repeating shapes, three dimensional vessels and whimsical creations… are the vocabulary that anchors my art.

Much of my work has centered on social concerns…Hurricanes Katrina and Irene, Death and Dying, and lately the Refugee Crisis. The emotional engagement felt considering these issues stirs me to make visual what may be unspoken or forgotten.

The Light Sculptures grew out of my interest in working three dimensionally. The more practical considerations involved in making functional art pieces offer an additional challenge. The process of building the form and outer shell calls for a kind of problem solving that complements my practice.
